The annual chapel campout in June of 2000 was great! We had great fellowship, very nice weather in the upper 70's & lower 80's, great food, and an overall nice time. Here are Luke (or is that Jared?), David, Gabe & Jason.   The award for the most 'home-away-from-home' campsite goes to Pat & Craig, seen here relaxing on their front porch.   Jim & Sandy brought their boat on the campout, and treated many people to fun rides on Lake Billy Chinook. Here they are in the morning at their well-organized campsite.   Jon & Bonnie find a quiet moment after breakfast while their children are off somewhere having fun.   Here are Jim, James & Nathan at their campsite.   No camp is complete without a mascot, and here is Seamus, shaking Haig's hand.   Trooper came in as a very close second place for mascot. Speaking of which, here he is, posing with most of his family, Gilbert, Stewart, Sue and Jimmy.   A special guest on this campout was Mr. Steve Hayley, a biologist, teacher and now student of geology. Mr. Hayley enjoys teaching how the study of geology confirms God's Biblical account of Creation. On Saturday afternoon, he led a group of us to some very intriguing balanced rocks.   As we arrived at the site of these rocks, he challenged us to explain how these large boulders, weighing tons, could become delicately perched atop columns of a different type of rock. The columns and their 'caps' are of different material. This picture from a distance unfortunately did not come out well.   For an idea of the size of these, we found a couple of willing volunteers, Mark & Ruth, to pose beside one.   Steve Hayley speculates that these were formed by erosion of a softer strata of earth underneath a harder layer on top. This erosion probably occurred quickly as the result of a catastrophic event such as a flood from a huge dam being breached. This dam could well have formed as waters receded from the great flood of Noah's time. Here is a closer view of this same formation - you can see the small surface upon which the boulder is perched. Plus, the boulder on top is not level, but leaning to the downhill side!   Did these formations occur just by mere chance? It is this webmaster's belief that they are as much of God's design as the song He put in birds' mouths. Or the intricate design of our human bodies. These are not mere accidents of nature, they are by design of "God, who made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth ..." (Acts 17:24). "Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves..." (Psalm 100:3)   Here is Gilbert standing almost underneath one of the boulders, and not to imply that he is untrusting, but he looks poised to run at any time if need be!   Here is one last view of these formations.
Back at camp, we have a few more pictures of folks in their campsites. Here are Johni and Bobbie with Mikala. Jesse was asleep in the tent.   Here were our neighbors on one side of our campsite: Gene & Joyce.   Now, they were camping in comfort, if you ask me! With the bed inside their van, they didn't wake up in the middle of the night to discover the air mattress had a leak! Here are Cindy, Dan, Angela, Benjamin, Jared and Luke (or is that Luke & Jared??).   Gathered around a table are Stretch, Sarah, Evy, Barbara and Trevor.   Hhhhold on a minute! That isn't Trevor!! Nah, you cain't fool this alert webmaster - that's Bob from the campsite next door!  Several men went golfing Saturday morning, including Stretch, Bob & Haig. Here is Haig being comforted afterwards by Seamus, Paula, Dida, Janelle, Jason & Gabe   Haig recovered sufficiently from his golfing experience to barbecue all of us an excellent dinner Saturday evening. This was our one group meal together over the weekend, and it was e-x-c-e-l-l-e-n-t!! Here is the Barbecue Master at work.   His capable sniff-tester, not taste-tester, mind you, is keeping an eye on things. Hummmm, being sniff-tester isn't so much fun!   Sunday morning, we had our meeting in the amphitheatre of the campground. Some people just go all-out on a campout, even dressing up for church, like Craig here!   Steve Hayley spoke to us starting from Psalm 11:3 If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?  He explained why a knowledge of God as our divine creator is a foundational belief. A different worldview being promoted today disavows God and says that the world we know is the result of chance, random processes. Romans 1:18 - 20 counters this by saying that God created us and has revealed Himself to us through what we see in His creation and in His Word. We are the result of God's intelligent design. If you disregard God, then there is no meaning for mankind. The fruit of such hopelessness, of meaninglessness to life, is evidenced by the ills we see in society today.

We would like to extend thanks to:
Wagonmaster Lynette for her work in planning & organizing the campout
Steve Hayley for his thought-provoking contributions
Master Barbecuer Haig for his culinary skills
and others who contributed in various ways.
